Domenic Capomolla – Chief Executive Officer

Domenic assumed the role of Interim CEO in late December 2021 and was appointed permanent CEO in March 2022.

With a history of starting and operating energy retailers in Australia and Asia, Domenic has held chief executive and senior executive roles with Sumo Power, where he was a founder, Alinta Energy, Simply Energy/International Power and Sembcorp Power (Singapore) spanning 20 years. He has established a reputation for taking start-up energy retailers and growing them into established, high-performing, profitable and customer focussed businesses. Domenic has formal tertiary qualifications in Mathematics and Applied Finance.

Prior to his appointment as Pacific Blue's CEO, Domenic was CEO of Tango Energy, Pacific Blue's retail arm, since 2018. Since its launch in 2016, Tango Energy has established itself as one of the fastest-growing electricity retailers in Australia and has won a number of consumer awards, including the most recent Canstar Blue awards for Most Trusted Electricity Provider – National 2024, Most Satisfied Customers Dual Fuel – National 2024, Most Satisfied Customers Electricity – VIC 2023, Most Satisfied Customers Gas – VIC 2023.

Kelvin Cheng – Deputy Chief Executive Officer & Acting Chief Financial Officer

Appointed as Deputy CEO in June 2022, Mr Kelvin Cheng also holds the position of Full-Time Director of Power International Development CPID, to which he was appointed in 2021.

Mr Kelvin Cheng has over 25 years of experience in financial and accounting management across a variety of industrial and commercial organisations, including multinational companies. Mr Kelvin joined SPIC Group in 2018 as a CFO. In 2021, he was appointed as a Full-time Director and Supervisor for CPID.

Mr Kelvin holds a Master's degree in accounting from the University of London UK. He is a qualified Accountant and a Fellow member of ACCA.

Gus Poh – General Manager, Legal, Regulatory Compliance and Risk

Gus Poh was appointed to the role of General Manager, Legal, Regulatory Compliance and Risk on 1 March, 2022.

With more than two decades of experience as a legal and compliance professional, Gus now leads Pacific Blue's legal, regulatory, and compliance functions and heads our company secretariat. Gus's legal practice has encompassed commercial law, corporations law, regulatory affairs, major construction projects, and complex large-scale litigation. In his career, Gus has worked in private legal practice, both as a solicitor and an advocate, and in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Tango Energy (Pacific Blue's retail arm) in March 2019, he worked at the Essential Services Commission of Victoria.

With a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, Gus is admitted to legal practice in several jurisdictions. Being fluently multi-lingual, and aided by his international experience, Gus is also skilled at cross-cultural communication.

John Ballenger – General Manager Retail

John commenced with Pacific Blue in mid-2021 and leads the sales, marketing, service, retail operations, technology and new energy solutions functions for Pacific Blue's residential and business customers.

With over ten years of experience in the utilities industry, some of John's recent senior leadership positions include Chief Customer Officer at Converge International, Head of Sales, Service & Marketing at Energy Australia, and Customer and Commercial Director at Telstra. Throughout his career, John has built, developed and led exceptional, high-performing teams and has a particular passion for working with and helping businesses and customers.

John holds a Bachelor of Business (Economics and Marketing) from Deakin University and a Master of Business Administration from the Universities of NSW & Sydney. He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Grant Appleton – General Manager Commercial

Grant Commenced with Pacific Blue in September 2022 to lead the Commercial Team responsible for our market trading activities, longer term commercial arrangements (including PPA) and our Retail Commercial activities, driving the integration of our Generation and Retail business units.

Grant has over 25 years of experience in the energy industry, having worked at Shell, Origin Energy and most recently ENGIE ANZ. Grant enjoys working in an operating asset environment, leveraging his commercial skills for strategic optimisation across the increasingly complex energy value chain to deliver innovative and needed energy solutions to our customers.

Grant holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Hons) and a Bachelor of Commerce from Monash University and a Masters of Applied Finance from Macquarie University. Grant is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Cesar Salvatierra – General Manager Generation

Cesar commenced with Pacific Blue in September 2010, and was appointed to the role of General Manager Generation in December 2022. 

With over 15 years of experience in engineering design, asset management and several O&M leadership roles, Cesar now leads Pacific Blue's Production, Asset Management, Maintenance and Quality functions. Cesar is a resilient professional, responsible for the development and execution of strategies that have delivered operational excellence to Pacific Blue's complex assets portfolio across Chile and Australia, ranging from change management and governance improvement projects to large-scale, complex infrastructure refurbishment projects.

Cesar holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Universidad de Chile, a master's degree in Energy Economics from Universidad Federico Santa Maria (Chile), and an MBA in Energy Economics from Offenburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany).  

Simon Maan – General Manager Development & Delivery

Simon commenced with Pacific Blue in 2021 and leads his team with the clear goal of developing and delivering new renewable energy generation assets to the business. This is performed with a focus on safety, social license, and sustainability.

With over 660MW of installed capacity and over 2.4GW of development opportunities, Simon oversees the entire development lifecycle of Pacific Blue’s renewable asset portfolio, encompassing wind, solar, hydro, BESS, pumped hydro and other emerging technologies.

Simon has 24 years of experience in leadership, project management and engineering roles. He graduated with 1st class honours from Monash University as a Mechanical Engineer in 1997. After 11 years in the Aerospace and Automotive sectors, he transitioned to the emerging renewable energy industry. Working for a large EPC contractor, he and his team were responsible for the engineering, grid connection and commissioning of 1.2GW of renewable assets into the NEM, achieving some of the fastest grid connection approvals to date.
