Pacific Blue appoints Niluksha Herath to Executive Manager Engineering

Pacific Blue, a leading renewable energy generator and retailer, is pleased to share the appointment of Niluksha Herath to the role of Executive Manager, Engineering.

Based in Melbourne and reporting to Simon Maan, General Manager – Development and Delivery, Ms Herath will lead the Engineering and Grid Connection functions of the business, supporting the development and delivery of Pacific Blue’s 2GW pipeline of renewable energy generation and storage projects as well as over 660MW of renewable energy assets.

Before joining Pacific Blue, Ms Herath held multiple engineering and senior leadership roles across her 15+-year career at Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), where she planned and delivered major transmission and renewable energy infrastructure projects up to $500m+, and led reforms to improve the process for connection of renewable energy to the grid across the National Electricity Market (NEM).

She has also held roles at Citipower and Powercor, as well as Parsons Brinckerhoff (now WSP) where she worked on a range of projects across Australia and internationally.

Domenic Capomolla, Chief Executive Officer Pacific Blue, said Ms Herath’s technical skills and industry knowledge will be invaluable to Pacific Blue as it leads Australia’s renewable energy transition.

"We’re thrilled to welcome Ms Herath to Pacific Blue. Niluksha’s depth of experience and engineering expertise will help us deliver our 2GW pipeline of renewable generation and storage projects, doubling our generation capacity within five years – enough to power an additional 500,000 homes. She will also play a vital role in optimising the technical, quality, and commercial outcomes for our existing fleet of renewable energy assets."

"Ms Herath is an experienced leader – well regarded by government and industry alike, whose recent work leading the Connections Reform Initiative and the creation and implementation of Victoria’s Renewable Energy Zones, will make a significant contribution to the renewable energy industry."

"Having been at the forefront of the renewable energy industry in Australia for more than 30 years, our people have played a crucial role in our country’s renewable energy story. To us, generating clean energy isn’t a promise for 2050, it’s what we do every day, today," he said.
